"Swimming" is something to be proud of By John Black April 5, 2002 |
Four years ago, before finding fame on the HBO series, "Six Feet Under," Lauren Ambrose made "Swimming." Now it's getting released, and unlike most indie-films with actors before they're discovered, "Swimming" is something to be proud of. It's a sweet coming-of-age flick about the changes a girl goes through in a single summer at a resort. Director Robert Siegel does a great job capturing the little but important moments of life by giving the actors plenty of room to create honest characters. The result is sweet but never cloying. # # # |
